You are studying a population of plants and you have determined that they are all genetic clones of one another. You are interested in a particular gene found in the population that you have named LLT (low-light tolerance), that allows it to live in shady areas. What is the frequency of this allele in the population you study?

A. 0.5

B. 1.0

C. 0.0

    Explanation:

If a plant population consists of genetic clones it means that all the plants in that population will have same genetic makeup. If an allele is present in one of the plants it will be present in rest of the plants too.

Allele frequency = Number of copies of the allele in population / Total number of copies for that gene in the population

In this population, low light tolerance trait is found which means that the allele is present in the population. Since all the plants are identical to one another so all the plants are going to have allele for low light tolerance and allele frequency will be 100% or 1.
