    conspiracy theory

    Explanation:

The explanation that for the lost ships and planes in the Bermuda Triangle are responsible extraterrestrials can be classified as a conspiracy theory. There are numerous theories of this type for numerous different things, and this is just one of the most famous ones. The Bermuda Triangle and the mysterious disappearances of ships and planes, have been brought to light during the Cold War period. Initially the authorities though that the Soviets might be involved in it, and they used it to spread panic, fear, and resentment among the people. After the Cold War ended, it was the extraterrestrials that ''took'' the blame for the several incidents. If we take in consideration the facts, the Bermuda Triangle is nowhere near the top 10 places in the world, in water alone, where there has been mysterious disappearances of ships and planes, despite it being one of the places with highest traffics of both ships and planes. The only difference is that this particular place got too much publicity, and the media used it to pump it up.
