Are Environmental influences able to change the gene pool of a population.

    Yes. for example, say we have a population of rabbits. that population is the current gene pool. say a natural disaster such as an earth quake splits the population in half, isolating one set of rabbits from the other. the gene pools are now limited and separated. eventually, over a long period of time this could result in two totally separate species.
