Skeletal muscles are supplied with nerves to support its function of contraction.

    Explanation:

Skeletal muscles provide an abundant supply of nerves and blood vessels. This is directly linked to the main role of skeletal muscle, and that is contraction. For this very purpose, nerve cells are important. A skeletal muscle fiber will start its function of contraction only after it gets an impulse from nerve cells.

Stimulation of motor nerves leads to a series of reactions which results in the shortening of the skeletal muscle fibres. This behavior causes the contraction of the skeletal muscle.
