The answer to this question would be: feedback inhibition

When the product is too high, there will be some feedback inhibition that will make decrease the rate of production. The cells may decrease the enzyme so the production rate is decreased. Some product can be toxic at a high level, that is why feedback inhibition is important to prevent it.
