When the nurse notices the TPN bag is empty and the bag needs to be changed, she needs to call the pharmacy right away. While waiting for the pharmacy or her supervisor to deliver a new bag, she will hang a different solution that will work until until the new bag is delivered. She will use a bag of 10% dextrose in water. This can be used as a temporary solution.
