    Nuclear fusion, sometimes called thermonuclear fusion, is a process where two light atomic nuclei assemble to form a heavier nucleus. This reaction is at work naturally in the Sun and most stars of the Universe.

    The fusion of nuclei releases a great amounts of energy from the attraction between them due to the strong interaction.

    2. The right answer is D.

    If the fusion could be used in the military field with the H bombs, there is still no civil application of the fusion for the production of electricity. Only study prototypes could be built, such as the JET reactor.

    But an international project is currently underway: ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor). This future plant aims to produce 10 times more than it consumes, which will make nuclear fusion a source of energy in the longer term than fossil fuels whose current population will probably see exhaustion.
