In the polyatomic ion tco4-, tc has a hypothetical charge of 7+. the 99tc isotope is used in medicine for imaging purposes. it has a mass of 98.90625 amu. give the number of protons, neutrons, and electrons for a tc7 + ion.

    Atomic number Tc = 43, which is equivalent to the number of protons in nucleus.

    Number neutrons = mass number - number of protons = 99 - 43 = 56 neutrons.

    Number of electrons = number of protons - charge = 43 - (+7) = 36 electrons
