Improperly digested nutrients can indicate a problem in the inner most layer of the stomach known as the mucosa. This is the innermost layer of the stomach and it is responsible for housing the specialized exocrine cells that secrete gastric juice. Gastric juice is a mixture of hydrochlocic acid, mucus and digestive enzymes.
