Transcription of DNA is the process by which DNA molecule acts as a primer to make an mRNA strand using the enzyme RNA polymerase. mRNA is then used to make polypeptides which are sequences of amino acids through a process called translation. mRNA carries codons that codes for Amino acids, which are read by the anticodons in the tRNA making amino acids sequence then generating proteins.

Thus, you transcribe DNA to make and built a sequence of amino acids through translation.
