What is a sex linked trait?

A trait associated with a gene that is carried only by the male or female parent.

What is the difference in inheritance between boys and girls for sex linked traits?

Basically, though, men have XY chomosomes and women have XX. They each pass on one of their chromosomes during reproduction, so the son or daughter will have a X from their mother and an X or a Y from their father, depending on their sex.
