The nursing action that need this client are to maintain intake and output records, document presenting signs and symptoms and compare ABG findings with previous results. Metabolic alkalosis happens when plasma pH increased because of accumulated base bicarbonate or decreased hydrogen ion concentrations. The result is retention of sodium bicarbonate and increased base bicarbonate. Documentations is one of the nursing management it also includes accurate baseline data, showing the signs and symptoms, maintaining laboratory values and accurate intake and comparing ABG findings with previous results. They should also implement prescribed therapy.
