To maintain homeostasis the chemical decomposition of food for energy production must be followed by muscle contractions - a. If this wasn't the case, there would be a surplus of energy which would mean that th ebody is not in homeostasis. When muscles are contracted, however, that surplus of energy gets readily used up and maintains the body in homeostasis.

    C. removal of wastes

When cells breakdown organic compounds into useful enzymes, and other biomolecules, these also result to the adverse effects of manufacturing - wastes. These harmful compounds are then collected by the cells to be drawn out of the body.
