    Norepinephrine, also called stress hormone is released by adrenal medulla.

    It acts as hormone as well as neurotransmitter in the brain and body.

    In brain, it increases alertness, focus, vigilance, and promotes formation as well as retrieval of memory. In addition, it also increases restlessness and anxiety.

    In body, it increases heart rate, blood pressure, blood flow towards skeletal muscles, promotes the release of glucose from energy stores, and reduces the blood flow towards gastrointestinal system.
