When constructing a pyramid of biomass, the ecologist will produce a presentation of the total mass off all the organisms in a representative area of the ecosystem. This type of ecological pyramid is determined by collecting organisms in each trophic level separately and finding their dry weight. Determining biomass in terms of dry weight is more accurate. The pyramid has a larger shape at the bottom and a diminishing shape as it goes to the top.
