Osmosis is a passive transport hence nor energy is expended during the process (different from active transport). In osmosis, water molecules move from a hypotonic solution to the hypertonic solution through a semipermeable membrane until equilibrium is achieved (that's is, both solutions are isotonic to each other).

B - the concentration of solutes is the same everywhere.

osmosis is basically a form of passive transport that aims to have the same concentration of solute on each side of the membrane (or in this case there would've been an artificial membrane).

it goes with the concentration gradient and water is moved in order to make the solute concentration equal (not the actual solute)
