Tissue rejection occurs when an organ is not recognized by the immune system of the body. This usually occurs in organ transplantation due to incompatibility of the donor's tissues with that of the recipient's. This tissue rejection mechanism is initiated by the Major Histocompatibility Cells of the immune system that are activated and recognize the outsider cells as foreign.
