Domestication of plants and animals was beneficial to early humans. Through this process, they were able to access food and other resources such as pelts more easily. Therefore, in order to improve their yields and obtain the most from their crops and livestock, it is likely that domestication was studied extensively. Cattle that produced the most meat or the most milk was bread, while crops with more fruit and disease resistance were also preferred.
