How can disruptions in the cell cycle lead to cancer?

    Cells go through mitosis to replace dead cells and when there is a full healthy layer of skin, it stops. When there is cancer in a cell, it doesn't know when to stop and it keeps going even though there is too much skin. does that make sense?
