The strategy must be confronting the LPN and encouraging him or her to express his feelings concerning the change. Confrontation is a significant strategy in dealing with struggle. Face-to-face meetings to confront the subject at hand let verbalization of feelings, documentation of problems and matters, and expansion of strategies to resolve the problem. Disregarding the resistance does not face the problem. Giving a momentary solution to the resistance by having the registered nurse do all of the computer work and having the LPN do only particular documentation will not exactly address the concern. Telling the LPN that the nonfulfillment will be documented in his personnel record may yield extra resistance.
