Which statement best describes the relationship of the small ribosomal subunit to the mRNA strand? They are both composed of RNA and protein. The small subunit has an mRNA binding site. They both read the RNA codon sequence to assemble the polypeptide chain. The small subunit assembles in the nucleus where RNA is transcribed.

    The answer is the small subunit has an mRNA binding site. The mRNA is composed of only RNA. The ribosomal subunit reads the RNA codon of mRNA and translated it to polypeptide chain (protein).
