Jar of strawberry preserves is full of reduced sugar, so that means they go mouldy more easily.

The solution, according to microbiologists, is to scoop off all of the mould (or yeast) and a few centimetres beneath it, to ensure you've captured any spores that are impossible to see After that the strawberry jam should be safe to eat.

According to USDA it is recommended that preserves should be discarded.
