    Mendel's law of segregation

Mendel's law of segregation is a law that was formulated by Gregor Mendel in the 1860's. This law states that allele pairs separate from each other in a random way during gamete formation (egg and sperm), so that each gamete carries only one allele for each trait. When the gametes randomly unite at fertilization, each gametes donates its allele to restore the paired factor in the offspring.
