Why do species have their own niche

    Based on how species can compete for limited food, shelter/water, no more than one species can inhibit the same niche in the same environment for a duration of time.

    Each organism plays a particular role in its ecosystem. A niche is the role a species plays in the ecosystem. In other words, a niche is how an organism "makes a living."
