It is found in the lower region of the stratosphere and its function is to filter and prevent harmful ultraviolet rays from reaching the earth's crust.

The Ozone layer is actually located in the stratosphere in a region that is 10 to 50 km above the Earth.
It acts as a natural shield from the harmful UV rays of the sun.
