    Boreal forest, also known as Taiga, is characterized by low temperatures (between 5º and - 5ºC); m uch of the precipitation is in the form of snow; short summer with very long day length at the northerly latitudes and in the summer there is a lot of plant growth; is characterized by coniferous forests consisting mostly of pines, spruces and fir.
