    The peripheral nervous system (PNS) is divided into two components, the autonomic nervous system and the somatic nervous system. The somatic nervous system consists of the sensory and motor nerves. The somatic nervous system innervates the limbs body walls.

    The motor or efferent part of somatic nervous system innervates skeletal muscle and sensory or afferent innervates skin, muscles and joints. The motor and sensory neurons act concert and are facilitated by spinal reflexes and central nervous system that permit in sync movement and locomotion.
