H = 0.5x + 3 is your answer. 3 inches is the original height, the constant. So 3 is always added. Each month, the plants grows 0.5 inches so that means that 0.5 is multiplied by the number of months, x. So, height = 0.5 inches (times) the number of months + 3.

    Month height

    x h (x)

    0 3

    1 3 + 0.5

    3 3 + 0.5 (2)

    4 3 + 0.5 (3)

    ...

    x 3 + 0.5 (x)

    Answer: second option, h = 0.5x + 3
