Why are people who receive new organs at risk for infections?

    Because of the new organs, their body isn't used to operating with them quite yet, so the immune system will be weak until the body can adjust to the new organs.

    People who receive new organs are at risk of infection because the new organ can contain contaminants/germs that are not already found in the receiving body.
