A climax community or climatic climax community is a biological community of plants, animals, and fungi that have reached a steady state through the process of ecological succession and vegetation development through the course of time. This occurs because species that are in this community have adapted well in conditions of the environment. Frederic Clements was the man that first coined the word climax in the early 1900s. He was only focused then in the comparisons of very similar organisms but ecologists later on developed the term "superorganism" in an ecological community.
