    Generally IPSP generated by post synaptic neuron makes it less likely of generating action potential. When neurotransmitters from the PSN binds with the postsynaptic receptors, the permeability of neural membrane of potassiumor chlroride ions increases. Therefore, Voltage gated potassium of chloride channels open and potassium or chloride ions leave the axoplasm.

    This leaves the inner membrane of the axon more negative relative to outside with generation of negative postsynaptic potential. However because the voltage gated channels for potassium took too long to close up, more potassium ions diffused out, this makes the postsynaptic potential more negative than resting membrane potential thus hyperpolarized ...
