Tricarboxylic acid cycle also known as citric acid cycle is an important metabolic reaction that involves different chemical step for the ATP generation.

The oxaloacetate is important reactant for the citric acid cycle and its concentration determines the cycle rate. As the information in the question, the excessive use of oxaloacetate will cause the inhibition of the reaction as the amount of oxaloaceteate will decrease.
