The chemical processes that occur within a cell are affected by many factors. Optimum cell function will not occur due to the following factors: 1. These chemical processes are very sensitive to the temperature and the pH of the cell. If the cell's temperature is either too high or too low, the cell cannot function efficiently. The same can be said for a cell's pH. Enzymes are most active during a limited pH range. If the pH moves outside of this range, the cell's enzymes cannot function efficiently.

    2. Cofactors and Coenzymes. Many enzymes and cell functions require additional factors and enzymes to function efficiently. If the required enzymes are not present in the cell, the cell cannot function properly.
