VO2 max can be achieved by engaging speed work and setting pace goals.

VO2 max is defined as of oxygen consumption attainable during maximal/exhaustive work.

VO2 is thought to be the best indicator of aerobic endurance.

    Definition of VO2 max training

VO2 max is the maximum rate at which your body can use oxygen when performing a specific sport, like running. The higher your VO2 max, the longer or faster you can run.

When to do VO2 max runs:-

Most training plans call for speedwork regularly throughout training. Some coaches say to do VO2 max training runs each week except for race weeks.

Pace goals of VO2 max runs: - Different coaches have different VO2 max suggested paces which vary anywhere from faster than 5K race pace to a minute slower than 10K race pace.

VO2 is defined as the maximum capacity that a person has to consume oxygen by performing a certain exercise. It should be noted that each person has a different VO2, and the unit of measurement is mL/kg/min.

Relative VO2 is a more accurate measure to assess a person's physical condition, however, other characteristics must be taken into account when increasing it by decreasing body weight. Some of these parameters are the age, sex, lifestyle of the person and if they do any physical activity. In conclusion, evaluating and taking into account all these parameters, it will be decided whether or not it is necessary to increase the maximum VO2, at the cost of decreasing body weight.
