The population of Metroville was 3,187,463 on June 30, 2008. During the period January 1 through December 31, 2008, a total of 4,367 city residents were infected with HIV. During the same year, 768 new cases of HIV were reported. Calculate the prevalence per 100,000 population and incidence per 100,000 population.?

    Total number of infected people = 4367 + 768 = 5135

    Chance of infection (Whole population) = 3187463 / 5135 = 1 in every 621 people

    Prevalence Rate per 100,000 = 0.02 % (According to parallel ratio statistics)

    Incidence chances per 100,000 = ~ 20 people ... or ...1 in every 5000 individuals
