Why is it important for each cell to be surrounded by a cell membrane that prevents large molecules from leaving the cell?

    Hi there.

    The cell membrane keeps organelles and ribosomes from exiting the cell. When molecules enter the cell, the membrane also prevents it from leaving as the molecule is needed to carry out processes.
