Typically they usually tell you to take Tylenol or ibuprofen. They may prescribe a low dose of pain medication, it just depends on the doctor and or the hospital regulations. Sometimes they may just give you a sample pill or two from the hospital to get you through the first day, But over the counter pain medicine is usually sufficient for tooth extraction.
