    Every 28 days during ovulation, an ovary sends an egg into one of the fallopian tubes. When the egg is not fertilized by a sperm, the egg leaves the body two weeks later in a process called menstruation. Blood and tissues from the inner lining of the uterus merge to form the menstrual flow.
