How is food in your digestive system like a finger in a doughnut hole?

    Just like how your finger isn't really "in" the doughnut, it's in the hole; food isn't in your digestive system, it's technically moving through the "hole" in your body. It's moving from your mouth to your anus, not in your body. This is because the material in your body is eventually absorbed.
