Suppose that the triplet of nucleotides indicated in bold (agc) spans two codons, that is, cta and gcc. if the triplet agc were deleted from this dna coding sequence, what effect would it have on the resulting protein?

    If the AGC triplet was to be deleted, the amino acid that it translates into - serotonin - would not be present in the protein. The amino acid translated from the triplet CTA - leucine - and the amino acid translated from the triplet GCC - alanine - would be together and this could change the whole structure of the protein. The structure of the protein could change more or less depending on the type of interactions between the amino acids present with the absence of the serotonin that would not be translated.
