    Answer: C). Changes the state of an object.

    Explanation: When a greater force applied to an object at rest is greater than it's force of inertia (the force keeping the object at rest), it causes the object to move, therefore force can cause motion. Force can equally cause a moving object to stop, when the force applied to the object is greater than the force of the moving object. A force can also change the shape of an object.

    But a force cannot change the state of an object. Matter exists in three states: solid, liquid and gas. A force can not make an object to change from one state to another.
