    The dish described is called tamale. Tamale can be filled with different kinds of meat, cheese, vegetables, fruits or any other type of filling. It was considered a sacred food of the gods by the Maya and Aztec civilisations, who used to eat a lot especially when they travelled.

    The dish that is considered to be from the Mesoamericans and they are their traditional dish which is steamed in a banana leaf or corn husk is known as tamale. The corn husk or banana leaf that is wrapped on the dough is discarded before even eating the tamale.
