How are bryophytes similar to green algae? How are they different?

    Similarities:

    1) Both are dependent on water, especially for reproduction

    2) Both contain chlorophyll a and b for photosynthesis

    Difference:

    In algae the haploid gametophyte and diploid sporophyte are usually identical. In bryophytes the gametophyte generation is usually dominant, i. e. what you recognise as the plant.
