A biome can be defined and characerized in multiple ways. Often it is said that a biome can be considered as the biggest type of community on Earth. This is mostly because it is considered to include different types of plants and animals which share certain characteristics; often a lot of them because they were living in ares with similar climates.

The difference between these biomes is that all of them differ in the amount of precipitation, amount of plants that can be found (thick woods in a forest vs. scarce trees in a desert) as well as the type of animals that live in these biomes.
