The parents of the third generation are both carriers, meaning for each child they have, each parent has a 50% chance of passing on the CF (cystic fibrosis) mutation.

So, yes. There are people in the third generation with cystic fibrosis. Considering that each time two CF carriers have a child, the chances are: 25 percent (1 in 4) the child will have CF. 50 percent (1 in 2) the child will be a carrier but will not have CF.
