A neuron's sodium channels are malfunctioning and will no longer open. How would this prevent the cell from changing its polarity, and why?

Motor neurons have a long axon and short dendrites and transmit messages from the central ... protein channel gates that can be opened or closed to control ion passage. Not enough protein going through so the neuron will shut down since the constant flow of axons stops then so does the function of the neuron
