There are several causes of heart failure including disorder of the heart muscle, high blood pressure, and diabetes etcetra.

Adrenaline is a hormone which is secreted by adrenaline glands specially under the condition of stress which can cause heart failure. Adrenaline binds to alpha adrenergic receptors which is found in coronary arteries in the heart that speeds up the heart rate and can cause heart failure.

Beta blockers are used to cover the receptors present in the heart that restricts the binding of adrenaline and receptors and hence prevents heart failure.
