In a field of sunflower plants, 776 plants are tall and 224 plants are short. Sunflower height follows the normal pattern of inheritance. Dominant traits masks recessive. Tall (T) is dominant and short (t) is recessive. What is the genotype of the short plants in the field?

    Short plants are a recessive trait whereas tall plants are a dominant trait. Short traits will only express themselves when both alleles for the gene are recessive. Hence, short plants will have the phenotype of tt.
