Gregor Mendel is the father of genetics because when he cross bred two pea plants he found that only one pea plant was shown in the first generation, after this he cross bred the first generation and found that in the second generation both pea plants were shown. So after this experiment he discovered recessive and dominant genes, making a big jump in genetics, therefore making him the father of genetics.
