Where do the reactions of the electron transport chain occur?

As I tried to describe in my answer to the previous question on ETC, the series of redox reactions move along from one enzyme to another. Think of this as a kid dropping little firecrackers along a path that release energy all along the way but with this process, it is captured ultimately and becomes a source of chemical energy.
